In real speech
What happens to the sounds
The t before a consonant isn't released — it's “swallowed” in the throat (glottal stop): get down → “ge' DOWN”.
When to use it
Get down = dance, or move lower. Same with get back, get lost: the t is held, not popped.
Casual → formal
Slang
ge' down
Neutral

Sound notes
T sounds: t rarely sounds like a clean t. Between vowels it becomes a quick, soft “d” (flap T); before a consonant it can be “swallowed” in the throat (glottal stop).
